The Most Effective Ways To Help Your Child Excel In Nursery School

Parents Tips

The support of a parent is an integral part of any child’s upbringing and also impacts their learning process. It has been observed that if a child has a supporting parent, they’re more likely to excel academically and do well in their co-curricular and extracurricular activities as well. However, you need to know the things that you can do to enable your child to excel not only in nursery school but also in higher grades and this article is going to discuss the steps you can take to achieve this objective.

Why Attend the Parent-Teacher Conferences And School Events of the Private Schools?

It has been seen that kids perform better when their parents are actively involved in their academic lives. If your child’s school is hosting a gathering or a meet at the beginning of the school year, which is a norm with private schools, then it is a good idea to attend these programs regularly. They will be able to give you an outlet to interact with your child’s teachers and have a clear idea about what their expectations are from your child and vice versa. In this kind of event, you can also discuss various other programs and policies with the school administrators,  which could be beneficial to you and your child. You might get first-hand information about different options and aspects of the school that could be beneficial to your child.

Attending the Parent Teacher conferences

Another way to stay informed and have a clear idea about your child’s progress is to attend parent teacher conferences, whenever they are held, especially if your child is in nursery school. Usually, these are held once or twice every year at the time when the teachers are handing over your child’s progress report cards. When you meet your child’s teacher, you can discuss the strategies that you can adopt to help your child to perform better in their academic and non-academic pursuits in school.

Asking for Additional Meetings if Required

In case if your child has special learning requirements then you can schedule additional meetings with the teachers and other school staff in order to consider setting up or revising the individualised education plans or what is called as IEPs etc. You have to keep in your mind that if a parent or a guardian wants, then they can request a meeting with teachers, school counselors, principals or any other school staff at any given time during the school year for better communication in these private schools.

Ask for Special Assistance if Required

After talking to your child, coming to a conclusion whether your child needs any special services or not is imperative. In case you find out that your child is facing any kind of problem while learning, then you can move forward along with the teacher to address the problem of learning disability of your child. All the top private schools will offer extra help to two children who are struggling with their syllabus.

Getting the Homework Done

Make sure that you inform your child that studying regularly is an important habit to build. Tell them that they need to finish each day’s homework on time. You can make doing homework interesting by implementing the following:

● Decorating your Child’s Workstation – How you can help with your child’s homework is to decorate your house in such a way that they get a special place in the house as their study where they can sit and do their homework on a regular basis.

● Establishing Particular Hours Dedicated to Studies – Establishing particular hours for studies also helps in setting a routine that a child gets used to.

● No Distractions in Study Space – Ensure that the place that you have assigned for your child doesn’t have any distractions. Ensure that when a child is doing his or her homework then there is no television switched on in the background or nobody is making a phone call in the vicinity. They must be given a calm and peaceful place to study.

● Assisting Your Child in Doing Craft or Projects – You can also sit with the child and help them with the project or craft. That not only makes it fun but is also an intimate way of building a relationship with your child.

● Show Interest in Their Work – You can be of help to your child just by showing that you are interested. Helping your child to organise the time table, their worksheets, their files, providing with all the necessary materials, and inquiring about the daily assignments. You can help them in those assignments, monitoring the work to ensure that they are finishing it on time and overall, praising your child for their hard work and dedication will motivate them..

● Exercise Discretion of Your Assistance-  If you are well acquainted with the subject do not straight away help them because it will not be useful for them in the future. Assist them when needed but do not do their homework entirely yourself.

Helping and involving yourself in your child’s work is very important but also ensure that they work in a congenial space and learn to manage their tasks themselves. That will ensure that they not only become creative but also become accustomed to the management of their work.
