Inspiration behind the Sadako Ogata Merit cum Means Scholarship

Global Indian International School Tokyo, is a school that believes in children. We believe that the children of today are the leaders of tomorrow.

GIIS is an educational establishment that promotes accessible education for all. This is not always possible for children from underprivileged backgrounds with limited economic resources. Having witnessed the injustice of the education system, which at times can be biased towards privileged children from wealthy families, GIIS realized that we needed to do something about it.

The school does not want to be seen as ‘GIIS – the private international school for privileged children’. Instead, it wants to be acknowledged as ‘GIIS – the international school for children from all economic backgrounds’.

The motivation led to the birth of ‘Sadako Ogata Merit cum Means Scholarship’. The scholarship is an earnest attempt to realize the vision of making education accessible to every child, irrespective of their financial background.
