GIIS’ Montessori education focuses on our students' formative years. Our innovative Montessori pedagogy is combined with cutting-edge teaching methods to provide young learners with opportunities to excel in their areas of interest. Our Global Montessori Plus (GMP) programme stands for a distinctive and well-designed nursery school curriculum.
Our curriculum also aids in moulding students’ skills, abilities, and personalities, making GIIS Tokyo Montessori school the most trusted Japanese kindergarten experience. We nurture students in a joyful and safe atmosphere, preparing them for primary education and life beyond the classroom. As a pioneer Tokyo nursery school in Japan, we have designed our award-winning GMP curriculum with the finest of traditional montessori education combined with digital led teaching methodologies.
A Glimpse of Preschool Education in Japan
The two forms of Early childhood education are Day care and Kindergartens. Preschool or Early childhood education is not considered mandatory in Japan, therefore Kindergartens are run privately like GIIS and the ideal age to enrol in Japanese Kindergarten is between three to five. The rudimentary direction indicated by the Ministry of Education - Japan towards the Kindergarten learning framework is Culture, Technology, Science and Sports.
Japanese Kindergartens also promote and instill in students - respect for family, school and teachers. Young Kindergartners at GIIS are taught to develop healthy minds and bodies through play and in group-oriented environments.
Age Criteria for Kindergarten Admission
GIIS Tokyo accepts students aged between 2.5 and 3.5 in Montessori while kindergarteners between 3.5 and 5.0 have the option of starting school at Junior KG (K1) or Senior KG (K2) levels, where our best educators introduce them to lessons, ideas, and concepts in a fun learning atmosphere. Our exemplary GMP curriculum has made GIIS the leading Montessori schools of Tokyo.

Seamless Transition
Our students are tutored by well-trained primary educators, who keep a close check on their physical, mental and emotional growth. Important subjects are introduced gradually so as to familiarise students with concepts and terminology that will aid them in progressing to the next level of education. This offers a good and energetic learning environment that promotes the overall growth of students, while also assisting them in making a smooth transition.
Our Teachers
Our experienced faculty has been handpicked for their educational accomplishments, areas of expertise , and zeal to work with children. Our highly knowledgeable and well-trained teachers have access to cutting-edge technology that allows them to engage with students and provide them with exceptional learning opportunities. We also continually urge our teachers to continue working on their skills to enhance their knowledge and skills further.
9GEMS
We have incorporated the best teaching and learning methodologies from around the world into our pedagogy in order to provide education that meets the needs of today’s fast-paced world. Our 9GEMS approach to education focuses on the entire development of students in nine areas of excellence, including academics, sports, the arts, skills, and values. This maximises the effectiveness of our instructional approach to balancing academics and extracurricular activities. Each design, feature, and facility is specifically designed to support and accentuate our teaching approaches as well as the universal ideals we instil in our children in order to help them grow into well-rounded and responsible global citizens.
Extra-Curricular Activities (ECA)
The wide array of ECAs available at our international kindergarten in Tokyo helps young students develop social skills, critical thinking, and teamwork ability, establishing GIIS as one of Japan’s best Indian Nursery schools. Mandatory involvement in any of the activities promotes student's exceptional overall development and enhances innate skills like entrepreneurship and creativity.
Co-Curricular Activities (CCA)
Co-curricular activities are an essential part of holistic education. We believe every child possesses a unique and outstanding inborn talent that must be identified at the appropriate age. We offer a plethora of CCAs at GIIS Tokyo International Preschool that assist students in channeling their passions, while finding their interests. We encourage all our students to participate in different competitions, performances, clubs, quizzes, etc. to gain a little more than theoretical knowledge and become confident adults.
Safety And Security
As one of the largest international kindergartens in Tokyo, the safety of all our students is of paramount concern for us. We have taken all necessary precautions and measures to ensure students and teachers have adequate layers of security from the minute they arrive at the campus till the time they leave. Our entire campus has a combination of traditional and modern security measures implemented across the entire campus, such as safe entry and exit points, CCTV cameras, identity cards, etc.
Building NextGen Leaders
Young students are enthusiastic learners with their whole future in front of them. They are curious, enthusiastic, and eager to learn. As a prestigious elementary school in Japan, we provide a fusion of both Eastern and Western teaching methodologies. We take pride in having a curriculum framework that teaches students beyond academics by integrating other aspects of their life. The ultimate objective of this well-rounded approach is to prepare students to face the numerous difficulties that this ever-changing world presents.
Going Green
We encourage our students to achieve excellence in academics, while also learning to care for nature and the environment around us. Our environmental programmes, such as Go Green, emphasise over the necessity of recycling and upcycling, as well as how to efficiently use them to decrease waste. We organise various environmental drives, such as planting of trees, sowing seeds, celebration of festivals and birthdays in an eco-friendly manner by making the best out of classroom waste. This encourages our students to actively participate in environmental awareness programmes.
