Welcome to the world of the Gavel Club, where the spotlight is on YOU!<\/i><\/p>\n

And by \u201cyou\u201d, I mean every student who\u2019s brave enough to grab a mic, and speak in front of their peers.<\/i><\/p>\n

As the Club Counsellor, I\u2019m there to ensure that our meetings are not only about crafting perfect speeches but also about learning how to lead with confidence, tackle real-world challenges, and\u2014let\u2019s be honest\u2014have a little fun along the way.<\/i><\/p>\n

Let\u2019s break down the vision: \u2018Step up, Speak Out\u2019<\/h2>\n

As the Club Counsellor at GIIS East Coast<\/a> Campus, my goal isn\u2019t just to teach our students how to give a powerful presentation. It\u2019s about helping students unlock their potential, thinking critically, and building emotional resilience.<\/p>\n

Sure, public speaking is the main gig, but life skills? That\u2019s the bonus. I want every student in the club to feel empowered to step up, speak out, and become the kind of leader that makes everyone go, \u201cWow, I want to be like them!\u201d<\/p>\n

The Club is open to students who are passionate about improving their communication and leadership skills, in Grades 7-10. Interested students are encouraged to get in touch with the Leadership team of the Club.<\/p>\n

Tailored activities: Shark Tank-style pitches, and more<\/h3>\n

When you join the Gavel Club, you\u2019re not just signing up for another club to mark off on your schedule. We\u2019ve got everything from Shark Tank-style pitches (yep, you can totally pretend to be on TV) to impromptu debates and Table Topics that\u2019ll keep you on your toes. Trust me, no two meetings are the same, and I make sure to throw in a bit of variety to keep things spicy.<\/p>\n

Each activity is designed to stretch your imagination and challenge you to think on your feet. And if you\u2019re ever in doubt, remember: no one ever became a great speaker by staying in their comfort zone.<\/p>\n

So, get ready to step out and shine \u2014 whether you\u2019re pitching an idea or debating whether pineapple belongs on pizza (spoiler: it does, but that\u2019s a different debate).<\/p>\n

If there\u2019s one thing I\u2019m passionate about, it\u2019s feedback! But not the \u201cyou could\u2019ve done better\u201d kind. I\u2019m talking about constructive, \u201cHey, you nailed it, but let\u2019s try this next time\u201d feedback that helps you grow. In our club, feedback isn\u2019t a bad word \u2014 it\u2019s a tool for improvement and a way to celebrate all the little victories that make you better every time you speak.<\/p>\n

And, just to make it even more fun, I\u2019m a huge advocate for peer mentorship. So, get ready to help each other out and cheer each other on. It\u2019s not just about personal success; it\u2019s about lifting each other up, because there\u2019s room for everyone to shine.<\/p>\n

Inclusivity and Leadership: Everybody\u2019s welcome<\/h3>\n

Let\u2019s be real: Gavel Club is all about inclusivity. Whether you\u2019re an introvert who\u2019s terrified of speaking in public or a natural-born performer who thrives on the spotlight, you\u2019ll find a place here. I encourage everyone to take on leadership roles because, guess what?<\/p>\n

Leadership is the best way to learn. And if you make a mistake? No biggie \u2014 we all learn from it, and it just makes the next round even better.<\/p>\n

These are the kind of values that don\u2019t just help you crush it in the club, but will also serve you when you\u2019re dealing with exams, group projects, or even just trying to survive a Zoom meeting.<\/p>\n

Ultimately, my vision for the Gavel Club is simple: I want to help create a group of confident, articulate individuals who go out into the world and make an impact. So, whether you\u2019re delivering a speech, leading a team, or just showing up to support a friend, know that you\u2019re building a legacy of leadership, and growth that\u2019s going to last long after you leave the club.<\/p>\n
