Start your child’s journey to success. Curriculum enhancers are ideas that enhance the learning outcomes of lessons for students in academics. The purpose of having these ideas is to help the students improve and strengthen their theoretical and practical understanding of concepts used regularly.
The curriculum enhancers are meant to maximize the quality of learning experience for children through hands-on activities, and identify and improve core competencies before they graduate on to the next academic level.
The Global Montessori Plus (GMP+) curriculum at GIIS Noida is a well curated programme for pre-schoolers that uses several methodologies as enhancers to improvise their learning outcomes. These methodologies have been carefully crafted by our in-house faculty members to leverage the learning potential of students from the age of 2.5 to 6 years.
The three years of the Global Montessori Plus programme at GIIS Noida uses the following curriculum enhancers that make their beginning of formal education a memorable experience:
● Math Magic – is used to introduce students with the basics of Mathematics. Students are engaged in simple activities/experiments in class and the Montessori lab that has specially been designed to provide practical simulation to these young minds.
● Thinking Thursday – is a science based phenomenon that engages children in the most scientific manner. Activities under this category make students curious about the world around them and reason the existence of scientific phenomenons. This helps in laying a strong foundation of process skills that eventually lead to enhanced reasoning, analytical and problem solving abilities.
● GMP Global Connect: The tiny tots of the pre-primary segment are regularly engaged in the virtual Global Connect series where students from two or more GIIS campuses (India, Malaysia, Singapore, Abu Dhabi, Japan, etc.) connect together to share their learning and experiences on topics concerning environment, global issues, human values, and more.
● ICare Programme: Empathy and compassion are two virtues that must be instilled in our children from the very beginning. The iCare programme at GIIS ensures that children imbibe these values by participating in activities that teach them the importance of caring for the environment and the community. These activities enable them to develop love for nature, mankind and animals, and imbibe a sense of selflessness among themselves.
● GMP Inter-campus story telling: This activity/curriculum enhancer at GIIS Noida kindles creativity and imagination and develops a strong moral connect in children. Children across all GIIS campuses connect virtually to share and explore their inner story weavers. The purpose of conducting this activity is to enhance and improve communications skills, confidence, vocabulary and public speaking skills and establish the importance of essential moral values.
● Coding in Early years: The concept of pre-coding is introduced to the children through activities that aim at developing reasoning, analytical and problem solving skills in them. The only objective of introducing the pre-coding fundamentals to pre-schoolers is to enable them to understand, learn and implement the basics of coding later in their academic life.
● I Play (Free play): GIIS Schools offer IPlay i.e. free play facility to its pre-school students where they are free to choose the game they like and play with whoever they want to under the teacher’s supervision. This gives our students an opportunity to work on their socio- emotional development and imbibe a sense of self dependence.
● E-Portfolios: GIIS Noida has recently initiated e-portfolios for the kindergarten students. An e-portfolio is a collection of student’s work that showcases learning over time. It is a digital collection of documents that is created by a teacher for her students and comprises work like photographs of various activities done during the virtual classes, their written work and artworks. The e-portfolio will help parents track their child’s learning progress and keep a tab of their academic journey throughout the year.
