Have you ever paused to think how a sibling becomes your first friend for life?

That’s exactly what the students at GIIS Pune Hadapsar celebrated this year – the beautiful connection between brothers and sisters. Siblings Day 2025 at our campus was all about memories, moments and the shared laughter between young hearts.

For those curious –  Sibling Day is celebrated every year on April 10th – a perfect time to honour the bond that shapes our earliest friendships. The event was not just another date on the school calendar. It was a heartfelt reminder of the everyday bonds that help build confidence, kindness, and care among children.

Why GIIS Celebrated Siblings Day with a Difference

Most students at school spend more time with their peers than at home. So when they come together to celebrate the National Sibling’s Day, it becomes more than just a celebration, it becomes a memory.

Siblings Day is celebrated every year on April 10th, and for us at GIIS, it’s more than just a date. It’s a reminder of the special bonds that shape kindness, confidence, and care among children.

Since students spend so much time together at school, these moments turn into lifelong memories.

Why Sibling Bonding Matters in Today’s India

We often forget how much pressure children deal with. Academics, exams, peer pressure, it all adds up. And siblings often act as the first support system. Even research has shown this: In 2020, a survey said 20% of Indian youth under 19 fall sick more than twice a year. Low immunity often links back to emotional stress. Strong sibling bonds help lower that stress.

The day at GIIS was designed keeping these small yet strong facts in mind. That’s also why this year’s theme was: “Together we are stronger.”

Simple Moments That Shaped Stronger Bonds

Unlike regular celebrations that end with a snack, GIIS Hadapsar planned something more personal. Each student made a gratitude jar. They filled it with kind words for their siblings, both at school and home. These jars were then sealed and taken home, to be opened on days when they felt lonely or sad.

Such acts helped children understand that Brothers and sisters day is not about gifts or big shows. It’s about knowing someone is always there for you.

GIIS Hadapsar: A School That Believes in Relationships

GIIS Pune Hadapsar is not just a school. It’s a place that believes children need emotional learning as much as academic lessons. That’s why our campus regularly hosts unique events that focus on social skills, empathy and friendship.

Among many international schools in pune, we try to make every child feel seen and heard. Events like Sibling Day are our way of teaching life beyond books.

We also keep in mind that older students need different experiences. For example, our curriculum for CBSE schools for 11th and 12th in pune includes life-skills training and emotional awareness sessions.

And if you’re searching for the right start for your younger ones, we recommend looking into our early years programme – one of the best pre schools in pune.

This year, the theme was “Together we are stronger.” Our team designed simple yet meaningful activities to help students express love and appreciation for their siblings. Whether through a hug, a thank-you, or a small handmade gift, every gesture was heartfelt.

Art from the Heart: Grade 1 & 2 Activities

On 11th April 2025, students of Grades 1 and 2 took part in creative activities to show love for their siblings.

  • Card Making – Grade 1
Students coloured images of siblings using crayons and pencils. With teacher guidance, they shared kind words and created beautiful cards. This activity boosted their creativity and emotional connection, making it a joyful learning moment.
  • Close to Heart – Grade 2
Children used heart and leaf cutouts, along with ice cream sticks, to create special keepsakes. They added sibling photos and decorated each piece with care. Some students without siblings made their craft for cousins or friends – showing that love goes beyond blood ties.

A Message for Students: Keep the Bond Alive

So now that the day is done, what should you do next?

Say thank you to your sibling. Call them. Hug them. Or write them a note. Doesn’t matter how small the gesture is, it will matter to them. And if you celebrated sibling day at your school or home, share those moments too. Share this post with your friends and family. Spread the message.

At GIIS Pune, we believe that when students grow up with strong relationships, they become better people. And that is why we celebrate more than just achievements, we celebrate hearts. That’s what what is sibling day truly means to us.

The celebration may be over, but the bond doesn’t end. Say thank you. Share a smile. Write a note. Every little act matters. If you enjoyed Happy Sibling Day, share your moments with others.
