学校提供额外支持的第一步是对学生的英语水平进行评估,让我们的教育工作者了解每个学生的需求。评估结果将送交 ELS 小组进行评估。

教师支持和资源

我们的 ELS 教师为学生提供一系列语言资源,包括用于听力练习的音频片段和对话、用于提高理解能力的阅读材料(包括词汇表)、从初级到高级的书籍以及作业本。教师利用在线资源和互动教学工具进行教学。学生分组学习,以便更好地参与学习过程。每班人数为 2-4 人,最多 6 人。

了解 PYP 课程:提高英语语言技能

国际文凭PYP 课程包含 "探究单元"、"探究计划"、"跨学科学习 "等独特术语,以及功能、视角、联系和反思等各种概念元素。

在整个学习过程中,学生必须理解这些术语及其与小学教育计划的相关性。我们的英语学习课程教师与一至五年级的学生合作,确保他们理解这些术语以及与之相关的相应学术概念。

GIIS 电子学习课程教师与不同年级的PYP 教师密切合作,并在每个探究单元(UoI)之前参与PYP 课程的备课。了解单元目标有助于学习过程。在整个单元探究过程中,ELS 教师会继续指导他们,帮助澄清每个单元探究的概念。

为了提高英语语言能力,我们的 ELS 教师采用了双重方法:

抽离式教学法:这些班级根据个人需求量身定制。

推入式教学法:每周一次,一至三年级的电子学习课程教师会在 UoI 课程期间加入PYP 班级。这样,他们可以帮助学生更好地与同学和老师互动,解决他们在理解方面的任何不足。

对于高年级(4 年级和 5 年级)的 ELS 学生,推入式教学法的使用频率更高,每个学生或每组学生每周最多可使用三次,甚至更多,尤其是在处理复杂概念时。

此外,如果一个年级或不同年级的几个英语学习课程学生认为某个概念或主题特别具有挑战性,教师会安排小组课程来重申这些概念。他们还提供词汇表,让学生熟悉特定学科或概念的术语,并根据PYP的要求为他们的研究提供支持。

对于需要额外帮助的四、五年级学生,ELS 教师会在他们的PYP 班上花费额外的时间来帮助他们理解概念和加强互动。

有效成果,显著改善

通常情况下,在报名参加作为 GIIS 国际学校PYP 项目一部分的该课程 3-4 个月后,学生的交流、阅读和理解能力就会得到大幅提高。这种进步使他们能够更有效地融入社会、与同学互动、参加社交活动,并参与PYP课程。

学生参加 ELS 项目的时间长短取决于他们最初的语言水平和投入程度,从 6 个月到一年不等。在他们有信心进入主流PYP语言班学习之前,他们将一直留在该项目中,而不需要GIIS免费提供的额外语言支持。
