Primary schooling is the basic education for a student and it is mandatory in Dubai. It is the foremost education that builds the character of a child and develops social, cognitive, emotional, physical and cultural skills of the students. Primary school is important because:

The age criteria for primary school admissions at GIIS is between 5.5 to 11.5 years.
Education in Dubai is offered by private and public schools. Public school education is free of cost. Education is compulsory from 5 to 15 years of age. Private schools are regulated by the Knowledge and Human Development Authority and public schools by the Ministry of Education UAE. Schooling is divided into Kindergarten, primary school, secondary school and high school.
