Worried how your child will manage the new CBSE class 10 exam pattern 2026?

As a parent, it’s natural to feel concerned about how your child will handle the changing academic environment, particularly in light of the important Class 10 board exams.  The 10th board exam year sets the tone for future studies. Knowing the new CBSE exam pattern is the first step in helping your child do well.

From 2026 onwards, CBSE will bring in big changes. Parents and teachers must know these updates. This guide simplifies the full CBSE class 10 exam pattern in a clear and practical way.

Many schools have already started revising their teaching approach. If you’re choosing a school for your child, it’s wise to check the best CBSE schools in Pune with fees structure. These schools are adapting fast. Also, consider exploring well-rated primary schools for younger students.

What is the CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern 2026?

Starting 2026, there will be two board exams in the same academic year. The first exam will be held from February 17 to March 6, 2026. The second one is scheduled from May 5 to May 20, 2026.

Students can appear in either one or both. The better score will be used for the final result. There will be no separate supplementary exam. That means less stress, more chances.

Science and Social Science will now be offered in both Basic and Standard levels, similar to Mathematics. This gives students better flexibility depending on their interests and future plans.

Major Changes in CBSE Class 10 Exam Pattern 2026

What’s different from earlier years?

  1. Two exams in a year
  2. Best score will count
  3. No supplementary exam

  6. More real-life and case-based questions

These changes are in line with NEP 2020. It aims to reduce pressure and give students more control. Parents should become familiar with the CBSE 10 board exam pattern early in the year.
