GIIS Academic English Preparatory Programme (GIIS AEPP)
GIIS Academic English Preparatory Programme (GIIS AEPP) is a customised and comprehensive course to support new non-native English-speaking students who are not studying at GIIS. It is designed for students who are finishing primary school and progressing into critical middle school years (Grades 5-8). The curriculum, developed by GIIS, facilitates seamless transition of the new students to mainstream English-medium education, upon successful achievement of desired learning outcomes.
Spread over six (6) months, the programme primarily aims at building proficiency in English speaking, reading, writing, and listening, guided by expert and trained teachers. Moreover, to foster well-rounded skills, the curriculum includes classes in subjects such as Maths, Science, Physical Education and Reflection, apart from English.
There are two cycles to choose from – April to September OR October to March.
The entry tests are conducted in March for the April cycle, and in September for the October cycle to help evaluate students' baseline proficiency and readiness for the programme.
