After preschool, the first stage of formal education is primary school education. It offers the fundamental skills in reading, writing, Mathematics, Sciences, Languages and Humanities, and establishes a strong foundation for future learning.

There are 6 years of Primary schooling in Singapore. The age group for which students can enroll in primary school education is between 7 to 12 years. Primary school education is compulsory in Singapore and is divided into 2 stages that are:

● Four years foundation stage (Primary 1-4)
● Two years orientation stage (Primary 5-6)

Primary education is the most important aspect of a student’s learning journey for a number of reasons:

● Builds a foundation for literary and numeracy
● Develops the cognitive, social, physical, cultural, and emotional side of the student
● Shapes their worldview and shows them the right direction in self-learning 

The curriculum areas of learning for primary school education are:

● Language and Literacy

The curricula offered for international primary school are:

● Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), for Grades 1-5

The assessment for the primary school is as follows:

● Grades 1 and 2 students need to take four assessments in the form of tests
● Grades 3 to 5 have two major assessments in November and March known as half-yearly and yearly assessments. Two periodic tests will be conducted in the months of May and November.

Spiral learning is the academic teaching method that uses the concept of rising higher and going deep. In this method, students are made to get deep knowledge of the concepts they learn. The teaching is in the form of a spiral that rises systematically and balances between the understanding and imagination of the students.

 Primary school admissions at GIIS are open all year round. Students who are interested can apply directly from the website. Once the forms are submitted the parents are contacted by the counseling team members who will schedule a meeting . During the campus visit students will have a counselling session followed by the assessment process. As a final step, an one-time non-refundable registration fee needs to be paid to book a seat for the child.

At the time of school visit parents can talk to our academic counselors who will guide about all curricula and identify if  its the best fit for the child. To meet the counselors a prior appointment has to be scheduled.

At the time of campus tour, our admission team ensures that parents get all the required school information. Our admission Counsellors help parents speak with the existing students and gain insights on student life, the school and more.

The primary school fee at GIIS Singapore depends upon the curricula chosen by the students. The fees to be paid will be intimated to the parents or guardian well in advance by our team. The documents required at the time of admission are:

● Valid residential address proof
● Passport size photographs.

Yes, transfer of students from one GIIS campus to another within Singapore is available on valid grounds of change of residence, graduation, or any other reason that may be approved by the Principal subject to availability. All transfer requests should be addressed to the Principal’s office along with necessary documents..
