Where grit meets goal: The power of sports at GIIS

Sports, Learning

At GIIS, our sports fields are more than just playing grounds – they are dynamic classrooms where students learn vital life skills such as teamwork, dedication, perseverance, and sportsmanship. These values play a crucial role in developing strong character and preparing students to become well-rounded individuals.

As part of our 9GEMS framework, we place a strong emphasis on physical education, ensuring students grow both mentally and physically. Our sports programme is designed to nurture talent across various disciplines while also instilling a lifelong love for fitness and well-being.

‘Fostering discipline, resilience and camaraderie’

Student progress is evaluated using both qualitative and quantitative methods, helping them recognise their strengths and identify areas for improvement. Participation in sports fosters discipline, resilience, and camaraderie, all of which are essential to personal development.

Our Annual Sports Day serves as a celebration of these efforts – a vibrant platform where students showcase their athletic abilities, engage in friendly competition, and embrace the spirit of healthy living.

Range of ECA offerings

Beyond daily physical education, GIIS offers a range of Extracurricular Activities (ECAs) including badminton, basketball, cricket, football, table tennis, and taekwondo. These ECAs support physical development and sharpen mental focus, offering students a balanced lifestyle that integrates academics and physical well-being.

Gold Squad expert coaching

To support high-performance athletes, our Gold Squad Programme trains every Thursday morning, offering targeted coaching in specific sports. This dedicated training builds confidence, refines technical skills, and strengthens team dynamics – all in preparation for competitive events.

Our students also participate in the Athletic Conference of Singapore International Schools (ACSIS), where they compete with peers from other international schools across Singapore. This exposure boosts their competitive spirit and encourages excellence through real-world sporting experiences.

Bringing home laurels

Over the past academic years, GIIS East Coast athletes have truly made their mark across a wide range of sports. In ACSIS 2023–24 Season, S Aryan brought home a gold medal in the Middle School Track and Field Championship Finals, a proud moment for the entire school community. The momentum carried into ACSIS 2024–25 Season, where our U14 Mixed Cricket team were crowned champions.

We also celebrated strong team wins as the 14U Girls Table Tennis and 16U Girls Badminton teams both clinched first place in their respective categories. Our U12 Boys’ Football team were crowned ACSIS champions, showcasing their skill, discipline, and teamwork across a highly competitive season. Additionally, our U14 Boys’ Football team secured a commendable third-place finish in 2025, reflecting the growth and strength of our sports development pipeline

Our students continued to shine at the GIIS Real World Challenges Convention (RWCC) 2024 Games. In athletics, the U14 Boys topped the podium in the Long Jump, while Siddhi Saini delivered an exceptional all-round performance in the U16 Girls category, taking 1st place in Long Jump, 100m, and 200m.

Building confidence beyond the field

These successes reflect the depth of talent and commitment among our students, as well as the guidance and support of our dedicated coaches. Whether it’s achieving gold medals or learning through friendly competition, our student-athletes continue to exemplify what it means to lead with passion, resilience, and school spirit.

At GIIS, our sports culture isn’t just about winning. It’s about building confident, disciplined individuals who carry the lessons of the field into every part of their lives.

Cambridge IGCSE Results 2026: Everything Students and Parents Need to Know

If your child is preparing to enter Grade 9 or Grade 10, you have likely already encountered the term ‘IGCSE results’ in parent meetings, school communications, and open days. For those currently comparing IGCSE schools in Singapore, one practical question often stands out: how can a school's results be verified as genuinely reliable, rather than simply a marketing claim

Where Can You Study Cambridge IGCSE in Singapore? Best Schools, Fees & Admissions

Cambridge IGCSE is offered in Singapore mainly through private international schools, since local MOE schools follow the Singapore-Cambridge GCE syllabus instead. Among the IGCSE schools in Singapore, Global Indian International School (GIIS) Singapore is one of the most established options, offering the Cambridge IGCSE programme for Grades 9 and 10 (ages 14–16) at its SMART Campus in Punggol, with a consistent track record of A* and distinction results.

Understanding Your Cambridge IGCSE Results: A Complete Guide to Grades, Grading Scales and What Your Results Mean

Cambridge IGCSE results are graded on a scale from A* (highest) to G (lowest), based on a student's Uniform Mark achieved in each subject. An A* reflects a mark of 90–100%, while a G reflects 20–29%. Grades are issued per subject, not as an overall aggregate and are recognised by universities and employers in more than 160 countries.

Mid-Year & Transfer Admissions: Moving Your Child to a Singapore International School (2026)

Relocating to Singapore rarely happens on a school's neat academic calendar. A posting can start in June, a lease can begin in September, a visa can clear in November—and somewhere in between, a child still needs a classroom, a timetable and a group of friends. This is the reality behind expat school admissions mid year in Singapore and it's a far more common situation than most parents expect.
