Eligible families can benefit from government preschool subsidies at GIIS Tokyo for children aged 3–5.
Preschool education and childcare in Japan have been free for eligible children aged 3 to 5 since 1 October 2019 under the national Preschool Education and Childcare Fee Subsidy Programme. This government initiative recognises the importance of early childhood education and supports families by easing the overall cost of preschool education, while also addressing Japan’s declining birthrate.
GIIS Tokyo – Approved Eligible Facility
Global Indian International School (GIIS) Tokyo is officially recognised by multiple cities and wards as an eligible facility under the Preschool Fee Subsidy Programme.
Eligibility effective: 1 June 2023
Applicable programme: Early Years (formerly Kindergarten)
Eligibility and subsidy approval are determined by the respective local municipality based on individual circumstances.

GIIS Tokyo is recognised or supported under the preschool fee subsidy framework in the following wards:

Subsidy programmes are also available in other municipalities. Families are encouraged to contact their local ward or city office directly for confirmation and application procedures.
Who Can Apply?
Children aged 3–5 years who are enrolled in the GIIS Tokyo Early Years Programme, reside in an eligible municipality, and meet ward-specific subsidy guidelines. Final eligibility and subsidy amounts are determined by the respective ward authorities.
